Barcodescanner

You can link barcodes to items in your collection. You do not need a separate barcodescanner: Yard Tower reads codes with the camera on your smartphone. After a scan you can quickly open the matching item, or add a new item to your collection by scanning a barcode.

Adding a barcode to an item

Barcodes are stored on the item itself. That way Yard Tower can recognise which item in your collection belongs to a scanned code.

1. Go to Collection.
2. Open the item you want to add a barcode to (via the pencil icon).
3. Enter the barcode in the barcode field.

Save the item. You can repeat this for as many items as you like.

Finding an item by barcode

Want to find an item quickly using a barcode? Then you can use the barcode scan button.

1. Click the barcode scan icon in the top right.
2. Scan the barcode with your smartphone camera (the smartphone may ask permission to use the camera the first time).

If the code matches an item in your collection, that item opens so you can view or edit it.

Adding a new item from a barcode

You can also use a scan when you are adding something new.

1. Go to Collection and click Add item.
2. Choose Scan barcode.
3. Scan the barcode with your smartphone camera.

If the code is not yet linked to an item in your collection, you can continue and create a new item. The scanned barcode can be filled in automatically so you do not have to type it by hand.
